The animated gif is one of the most popular items searched on the internet, only pictures of cats and babies are more popular (I’m just making that up, but it seems true enough).  The word “gif” has been so popular that it received the Oxford Dictionary’s “word of the year” honors.  As a matter of fact, two of the most popular posts on Geek Extreme are the animated fruit gifs and the queen’s middle finger gif.
