Fluidity Aviator Controller Promises Easier-to-Learn Design

Perfectly controlling drones is a massive challenge, both for old and new users. A well-controlled drone is the main difference between a great flight and an awful crash. Getting control of your drone while on the air also gives you the ability to get positions for shots.

Controller Conundrum

The controller for drones often comes in two variations. First, the simpler of the two, is basically the app on your phone, with the touchscreen acting as the buttons. This type of controller often comes with cheaper drones meant to be starters or for kids. The second version is a lot more common on more ‘serious’ drone types. It looks a lot like a video game controller, which is great for those who grew up playing the PlayStation or Xbox. This controller has very similar layout to console games for the buttons. This means one can easily know how to hold the controller properly, while having a semblance of which buttons does what. Having a gaming background can ease the transition into drone flying.

While this is great for people who play video games, those who do not are left in the dark. Some may see this design as ‘alien’, considering the vast number of buttons and arrangements. Others may see the controller as a daunting task to learn, and may be discouraged.

Fluidity Aviator Controller

A new controller design may be the solution to this problem. The Fluidity Aviator Controller offers a more fluid (hence the name) controlling schematic. The design resembles that of a flight simulator’s, instead of a video game controller. Here, you only need to use one hand instead of the common two for the traditional controller. This frees up your other hand, while also being fairly easier to learn and master. The Fluidity Aviator comes with a mount for the phone which then acts as the screen for the camera of the drone.

What do you think? Will this bridge the gap for newer users when learning the controls?
