Reon Pocket – A Wearable Air Conditioner

We’ve all heard of portable air conditioners but have you ever seen a portable air conditioner that you can wear? Sony has designed a gizmo, the Reon Pocket, that is wearable and is meant to cool you down while you commute from place to place in the hot sun. It can also warm you up in the cold, winter days.

This little gadget sits on the back of your neck in a designated pocket on specially designed shirts. It uses the Peltier effect, where small electrical currents absorb or emit heat.

Sony states that the Reon Pocket can lower one’s body temperature by up to 23°F and can increase your body temperature by 14°F. The Reon Pocket can be controlled through the app via Bluetooth. The Reon Pocket can also keep you cool or warm for up to 24 hours on one single charge. The Reon takes about 2 hours to fully charge.

Although, this gadget is just about to be launched in Japan only, Sony may soon bring this gadget to Europe and North America. It’s a unique idea to help beat the heat or cold when an air conditioner or heater isn’t readily available. I do sometimes which I had a fan under my clothes on those un-survivable hot days and this wearable gadget might just do the trick. The Reon Pocket is set to launch in March 2020 in Japan and costs about $120.
