Nemo Drone Combines Underwater Drones and Virtual Reality

Drones these days are seriously upping their game. Due to heavy competition from all sorts of companies around the world, it is extremely hard to get attention. One drone boasts an impressive control system where the drone responds to movement from your body. Others try to be more drone-centric; with bigger battery life, better cameras, and portability.

While most drones take to the skies, some companies go an alternative route.

These drones, instead of going to the stratosphere, dive into the depths of the seas. They not only give its user a fresh take on the underwater life, they also boast a new experience. For more serious usage, the underwater drones can also perform jobs in animal and wildlife sectors. They can monitor sea wildlife movement, while still maintaining the integrity of their habitats.

Underwater drones face different challenges compared to their airborne brethren. Video quality would be a huge issue. The waters can be blurry at best, and debris can also block the lenses. To truly appreciate the underwater world, you would have to use top of the line cameras.

Another aspect to consider is the inside of the drone. Flying through the air does not pose a big problem for the circuitry that makes the drone tick. Under the waters however, you would need a case for these fragile parts that is completely waterproof.

Nemo Drone Unveiled:

A Kickstarter campaign by the group Aquarobotman offers the next step to the underwater game. Their project, called Nemo (from the Captain of 20,000 Leagues under the Sea fame) promises a new twist to the underwater world of drones. What’s so different and special about this drone you ask? Simple. This drone includes a Virtual Reality headset where you can see what your drone sees. This would mean that you can truly be there, under the waters, seeing what your drone sees in real time. This means a wider range of photos, higher quality footage, and clearer videos. The drone offers 4k definition for its camera’s footage.

The drone itself is amazingly impressive. It can go to depths far beyond the current underwater drones’ capabilities. The Nemo Drone can dive up to a hundred meters, giving you vision on someone of the world’s most unseen places under the sea. The drone comes with LED lights to shed light into the dark underwater world. Meaning you will never have to worry about your photos and videos being too dark.

If you ever want to dive into the depths of the sea without the hassle of being wet or fearing of drowning, this one is for you.

But like all the other Kickstarter and crowdfunding ideas, you may have to wait a while before this becomes a reality.
