The Drumi – A Portable Washing Machine

If I was a single man without a wife and child, I’d probably live in a tiny apartment or basement suite. I consider myself a pretty basic person with very little needs. I actually day dream about this type of lifestyle when my brain gets a break here and there. And the Drumi is making me have those thoughts all over again. The Drumi is a portable washing machine for people that want off-grid style washing machine.

The Drumi portable washing machine uses zero-electricity and instead relies on the power of your foot for pedaling purposes. The brain behind this product is Yi Jiang who came up with this after he realized that an average washing machine load uses up to 28 gallons of water and 500 watts of power which equals to about $250 per year. It’s a waste of water and a waste of money. Of course you can’t expect a portable washing machine to produce the same results as an standard electric one. But remember, this product is intended for a specific market.

The Drumi has about half the capacity as a medium-sizes machine. The product is designed to wash 2kg load of slightly soiled clothes and uses 2.6 gallons of water per wash. Simply add water, a tiny amount of detergent, and pedal away for about five to ten minutes. Once done, simple drain the water and hang dry the clothes.

The Drumi will be available in Spring 2018 for $239 USD. The Canadian site will be selling the Drumi for $265 CAD.

This is also the perfect product for those that have to rely on coin laundry machines which are always going up in price. Just use this device in your washroom or on the patio. And if you don’t want to hang dry your clothing, you can purchase a Panda Portable Clothing Dryer which is also perfect for small spaces. If you’re worried about spending the money, you will easily get that money back in savings in a short period of time. And long-term savings will be noticeable.
