DJI Offers Tiered Coverage Plan For Free Drone Replacement Parts

Great news for drone owners everywhere! Soon you may apply for insurance plans to cover drone damages. This means more time flying, and less time worrying.

The company behind this coverage plan is DJI, a Shenzhen-based drone company. DJI is arguably the biggest manufacturer of recreational drones on the planet. It only makes sense that they themselves provide coverage in case of damage. For example, crashes often break parts from your drone. Parts which need replacing before the drone can function at a 100% again. Now, with coverage, DJI will handle repair and replacement costs by providing parts themselves.

DJI Enterprise Shield Deconstructed:

DJI calls this the Enterprise Shield, and has two levels. Like most insurances, the higher level you go the more coverage – but also more pay. The two levels are Enterprise Shield Basic and Enterprise Shield Plus.

The main advantage of Plus over Basic is the free and unlimited product replacement for your drone. Basic only has a maximum of two replacements, with corresponding price ranges. Of course in this regard, unlimited trumps anything else, so the feature can be very compelling. If you are careful enough however, you can definitely stay with the basic replacements.

Another difference is that the Plus has overnight shipping over Basic which only has two-day shipping. For the impatient ones out there (like me) who want their items as soon as possible, this can be a deciding factor. While a little bit over 24 hours may not seem much, replacement parts arriving determines your drone’s ability to fly again. Without the replacement, you are grounded. Both options provide free and fast delivery. But for some people, overnight can mean a world of difference.

Plus also covers drone fleets as opposed to Basic’s single drones. This may not seem like a big deal to rec users who only have a single drone. But as your collection grows, you may want the peace of mind of having all of them covered with one deal. Another thing to consider for drone owners, since it would mean that any damage on any drone gets coverage instantly.

Interested parties would be pleased to know that the Enterprise Shield is available in North America and China (so far). Other countries may have to wait, but it looks like this deal may be worth waiting for. Whether you go for the Basic or the Plus versions, rest assured that your drone is definitely in good hands.
