Beautiful Drone Footage of Hidden Inland Lakes in Iceland

Drones are hugely important pieces of technology, and are used for everything from surveillance to security. They record videos of places that are difficult for people to get to, and their footage is so clear that they may soon be used to deal with emergencies—drones are already being used to find people in emergency situations, but they soon might be delivering supplies to the injured. And since drones are able to travel to places that people might not be able to, they are used to record stunning videos of nature.
Iceland is a very popular tourist destination, largely due to the gorgeous scenery throughout the country. Aurel Manea was able to capture stunning video of some beautiful lakes, and you can watch the footage in the video below. He could not get to them himself because a river separated him from the location, so he used his drone. With the drone, it was very easy for him to capture video footage of the lakes.

The lakes’ water ranges in color from emerald greens to cool blues, with smatterings of brown here and there. The lakes are all of different sizes and shapes, making for visually interesting footage. Iceland is on a fault line between the North American and Eurasian plates, making it a site of a lot of tectonic activity—these lakes are actually formed from tectonic activity!

Manea did not give the coordinates of the lakes in his video, as he wants people to go out and explore Iceland with their drones. It is more rewarding to discover gorgeous landmarks on your own, instead of following directions to the locations. Manea encourages viewers to discover landmarks safely and without harming the environment around them.
