During the past few years, companies worldwide have begun experimenting on the idea of drones delivering their products. So far, so good. Massive companies like the online retail store Amazon, as well as pizza giant Domino’s have offered options for their customers. Either you get it through traditional methods – slow but reliable – or you get it through this new system. Drones are faster, more efficient, but they also can be inaccurate, especially in larger areas of delivery. The idea that your package may get lost because a drone misplaced it is, well, something a lot of people are worried about.
So far, online retailers are approaching this delicate matter slowly. They start out small. Small items from their stores, then moving up to bigger and more expensive products when their delivery drones get more credibility and experience. Right now, the most common items you can order that comes with drone deliveries involve food. Groceries, take outs, fast food; these are cheap, replaceable, and they have a customer demand for speed in delivery. All it takes is one push of a button from an app, and you are all set to go.
Coffee Drone on the Go:
Another drone delivery idea has started circulating around the United States. The tech company IBM recently patented a drone that can deliver coffee around town. And it does not even have to be that grand. The setting can be as small as an office or a coffee shop itself. The point is, you may be saying goodbye to waiters and baristas soon. The future is here, and automation has arrived.
The drone would work on a face or voice recognition software to determine the one who ordered. After all, with a crowd around you, it can be quite difficult when trying to find someone for their order. For simplicity’s sake, the coffee drone can also identify the customer by matching the phone source to the individual who made the order. Not as high tech as face recognition, but hey, as long as it works.
The plans for this coffee drone even goes so far as to check your sleep history. How are they going to do that, you ask? The answer comes from the popular exercise watch company Fitbit, whose watches monitor their owner’s sleep patterns. So apparently if you did not get enough sleep, the coffee drone will come to your rescue so you can do your work for a day. What a time to be alive, huh?
