DJI’s Mavic Mini May Soon Come to Stores Near You

DJI may soon unveil their next creation: the Mavic Mini.

As the name implies, it is a smaller drone compared to its other DJI siblings. The Mavic Mini is so small you can hold it with one hand. Its folded mode is even smaller – about the size of your palm.

DJI has not officially unveiled the Mavic Mini (DJI Arya), however there are photos circulating online that hints a release in the near future. There is still no release date confirmed – although you may see it in stores near you soon.

Mavic Mini Pros

Portability is one of – if not the – main focus for the Mavic Mini. Its smaller frame makes it very easy to carry and store. It can fit in small bags and is light enough that you will not have issues dragging it around on your back. Travelers who want to keep it light can still have a drone at their disposal with the Mini.

Smaller drones also cater towards the ‘beginner’ side of the client market. The Mavic Mini is an excellent starter drone for those wanting to learn the ropes before getting the big ones. It also weighs at just under 250 grams, which would exempt it from drone registrations especially in the UK.

The Cons

As with smaller drones, the main problems include battery life and durability. For the Mavic Mini, in exchange for a smaller frame, it has to lessen its onboard battery size. This can limit your time in the air, and spend more on the charging station.

Another issue is the price. At an expected $399, it is a bit more expensive than other small-sized drones. The price may just be the deciding factor for those on the market for a small selfie drone. It may just be the reason for customers to go elsewhere.
