Google Station to Unify Global Wi-Fi Spots

Today, internet connectivity is as important as electricity. The Internet seems to be the driving force behind improved productivity in various sectors thanks to the ability to share information across different regions. It explains why most of the public meeting centers are connected to Wi-Fi, hence encouraging lengthy stays by the visitors. Every coffee joint has an internet connection, meant to serve everyone that stops for a cup of the beverage.

While public Wi-Fi plays a vital role towards connecting people, it can be frustrating when it goes down, and no one seems to realize other than the user. Like any other business, the shop wants to maintain reliable connectivity but lacks the capacity. You will find most of the premises such as airports, hotels and movie-halls providing Wi-Fi on a huge scale. However, this may come to a halt if Google actualizes the plan to launch the Google station, which is a suite of systems aimed at maintaining public internet uninterrupted.

While it has not disclosed much about the project, it continues to foster a partnership with some internet service providers as well as hardware companies to actualize the goal. Currently, dozens of shopping malls and cafes have been enlisted as partners in the initiative. It goes beyond the preconfigured Wi-Fi Routers as Google plans to handle the login information for the hotspots. It will give users access to the internet from different regions using a single password. They will not have to keep asking passwords when they visit a different joint.

With Google offering fast speed internet through Google Fiber, Google Fi, it plans to allow hotspots commercialize their services. The initiative comes from India State-owned railway system to provide Wi-Fi to different stations using about 20000 miles of Fiber optic cable. Currently, it provides the internet in 50 locations and seeks to reach 100 by the end of the year. The concept is not exclusive for India, as it plans to spread to other places.
