The latest Solar E cycle is an electric and solar powered bike which can help people who live in off grid areas to easily get around.
The device was originally created for people who don’t have ample access to power. An E bike is fantastic for someone that lives in an urban area with quick access to power but with this version of the bike, the transportation alternative could actually produce an infinite amount of traveling power with its solar cells.
In cutoff areas of the world such as Africa where there is no public transportation, emergency services or electricity, this could be an absolute lifesaver. This type of bike that runs on solar power could provide people with the transportation assistance that they need to get around. There is currently a company leasing these bikes for around a dollar a day in developing parts of Africa.
The nice part about this design is that it’s extremely portable. Although it’s still in its prototype form, the bike which resembles a few bikes put together into a cart with a solar panel, the Solar E cycle is showing very promising results.
Testers are really enjoying the results that they have found with the bikes and they are currently rated at being able to travel around 50 km a day on solar power alone. As changes are made, and is better batteries may be installed it could be possible to increase the range of the Solar E cycle. For now however, the 50 km range is making an impact in less developed communities who would not normally have access to any type of transportation.
