How To Revive A Broken Laptop

Post image for How To Revive A Broken Laptop

There is nothing more heartbreaking than breaking the screen on your laptop. Whether it is your own fault, someone else’s fault, or just one of those unfortunate incidents where no one is really to blame, pointing the finger and getting angry and upset does nothing to bring your broken laptop back to life. However new laptops are expensive, so the ability to replace your broken screen is a great way to resurrect your damaged machine and also avoid having to break into your savings.

Do I really need to replace my LCD screen?

If you are having some sort of problem with the screen of your laptop, the first step is to try and work out what the problem is and decide whether the solution is to replace the screen. Some of the common screen problems that you might be confronted with include:

– The screen has began to crack or shatter and there seems to be leaking ink within the screen – you will need to place the LCD screen;

– The screen has a band of white running vertically down the display – this could be a problem with the cables connecting the screen to the laptop so may not require a new screen. You should take your laptop to an accredited repairer;

– The screen only displays a series of colored lines – this could be a problem with the cables connecting the screen to the laptop so may not require a new screen. You should take your laptop to an accredited repairer;

– The screen is showing signs of ghosting (and may sometimes seem to have a color wash over it) – try isolating the problem by plugging gin an external screen to see whether the problem relates specifically to your laptop screen or to something else;

– When the laptop powers up the screen remains black. Sometimes you might be able to see a faint impression of what should be there – this could be a problem with the cables connecting the screen to the laptop so may not require a new screen. You should take your laptop to an accredited repairer;

– The screen has developed thin lines running vertically across the display – this could be a problem with the cables connecting the screen to the laptop so may not require a new screen. You should take your laptop to an accredited repairer;

– The screen becomes washed out or completely whites-out shortly after you power up the laptop – try isolating the problem by plugging gin an external screen to see whether the problem relates specifically to your laptop screen or to something else;
