A Geek Visiting London

London is one of the top destinations for tourists from all over the world. Nevertheless its attractions don’t have to be boring or dull. So don’t be afraid geeks, London also has many “geeky” type attractions from game centers to architectural wonders. Whether you are a video game fanatic, a history buff or a comic book fan; London will surely please any visiting geeks who want to experience the city their way. So geeks everywhere, don’t waste your time, book your London lodging today and begin planning your trip!

First, for the video gamers, is the Gamerbase located in the HMV building on the bottom of the Trocadero center. This is truly a gamer’s haven, with tons of consoles and custom built Dell PC’s to play on. The center has over 200 titles to play and also hosts tournaments for those who really want to test their skills. You can battle gamers online or fellow Gamerbase patrons all week until midnight, making it a must stop for any enthusiast. The Trocadero center, located in Piccadilly Circus, also has laser tag and amazing five dimensional environments, ensuring that you can spend hours living out your wildest gaming dreams.

For the military and history buffs, a must see is the Imperial War Museum. This has magnificent war machines from all over the world on display and houses an amazing collection of weaponry from different ages. The exhibits are rotated throughout the year, ensuring that your visit will be as unique as it is educational. Another fantastic museum is the Grant Museum of Zoology with 62.000 animal species (by the way, most of them are extinct!). Its shop offers many interesting books, postcards as well as Micrarium greetings cards and wrapping paper. Science lovers will surely have to visit the Science Museum. It has five floors, many wonderful exhibits and demonstrations, a marvelous space section and the best is still to come, the entry is free! Some fantastic gadgets such as chemistry tests, telescopes or funky kitchen utensils, can be purchased in the shop (but also online).

It goes without saying that one of the greatest nerdy attractions in London is Forbidden Planet. It is the United Kingdom’s largest comic book and memorabilia shop, housing thousands of rare comic books, collector dolls and anime for even the most well versed comic book enthusiast. They have an incomparable collection of apparel as well; such as Dragonball Z shirts, Doctor Who gadgets and even life sized statues of your favorite super heroes. This is definitely a must for any collector or fan because you won’t find a collection this vast in any one place anywhere else in the world.

Inamo is the place, you should stop by for having a nice meal. It’s situated in Soho and it’s a high-tech Japanese restaurant. Each table has a touch-screen that permits you to order your food, to change the design of your table or to watch the cook preparing your dish via webcam.
