Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is an evolving activity that requires a wide range of skills, talents, and a knack for engaging in highly disciplined activities in order to be successful. It’s challenging, but can be extremely rewarding for the right type of person.
Do you like both marketing and computers? If so, working at a SEO company might be the job for you. It takes thought, planning, and an analytical mind, qualities you obviously have as a reader of Geek Extreme. 😉
But it’s not just about you. What about the SEO company you’re seeking employment with? If you’ve decided that you’re interested in working for an agency, here are the qualities you’ll want the company to have before you make the plunge:
Are They Well Rated?
SEO companies are a dime a dozen, and as with any industry, some of them aren’t worth working with – either as a client or an employee. Do your homework and see what people are saying about the company before submitting your resume. If the company you’re interested in is a well established, reputable SEO Agency, then you should have no trouble finding plenty of good comments about them on the internet.
Do They Evolve?
Once you’ve managed to land an interview, discuss what their culture is like. If the company is any good, they’ll focus on learning, improvement, and teamwork. It’s an important part of the business given how quickly search engines improve and evolve. If a company doesn’t put effort into improving their trade, then they probably won’t be around very long anyway.
How Are the Salaries?
Perhaps you’ve actually tried doing SEO from home in a freelance capacity. Most in-house SEO workers actually make a lot less than an SEO Company simply because they don’t have the capital to bring in a constant flow of new clients. You also won’t have nearly the same resources that a large company has to offer.
I hope you find these points useful, and if you end up landing an awesome job, tell us about it in the comments below! The world is only becoming more digital, and brands will continue to seek people and organizations to help them marketing their products and services in a changing world.
