Cleo Drone Review: Compact, Home-Friendly, and Creative

Most of today’s civilian drones come in the form of quadcopters. Whether the size of a baby stroller or smaller than a palm, a quadcopter design is still the most popular. Four spinning rotors provide a good blend of speed, aerial balance, and movement. In fact, even the smallest and most basic of these recreational drones still opt for the four-rotor design.

But then again, nobody ever said it should be this case permanently.

Cleo Drone: Home Friendly Specs

The Cleo drone is a deviation from this current trend of quadcopters. From the minds of Cleo Robotics, this drone has a unique twist. The main goal for Cleo is to have a home-friendly drone.

Being ‘home-friendly’ could mean a number of things. First, a home-friendly drone must be protective enough to a home’s inhabitants. This could be younger children or even pets. Most of the time the protection comes from a shell casing that prevents external objects to touch the spinning rotors directly.

Size and Portability

Another issue for home drones is the size. Larger drones cannot fit into the low ceilings and crowded space of an indoor home. A home drone needs to be small enough to navigate around without breaking anything. The sizealso helps when it comes to storage needs. Smaller drones mean less hassle for storing when not in use. It also means its user can bring it for travel without being too bulky for most bags.

User-Friendly

Last but not least, home-friendly drones can also mean user-friendly features. Younger users may find an interest in these drones, but may require assistance in controlling them. Therefore, less complicated controls are a big plus here. Hand motion control, automatic follow, eye control, auto return; these are the traits to look out for.

Cleo Drone Stats Review

The Cleo drone checks a lot of the items listed above that constitutes a ‘home-friendly’ drone. Its single copter design makes it extremely compact. It has the same size and occupies the same space as your average donut pastry. As you can imagine, this means that it is very portable, and can easily find storage around the house. One can also travel with it easily, being able to fit in a coat pocket or small bag instantly.

The donut size and compact design is a great asset when it comes to flying one indoors. With its one rotor encased in a thick plastic armor, it is nearly impossible to injure someone with it. In fact, unless you deliberately poke your finger into the case, you would have to worry little about cuts or damage. The casing is so safe that one can even grab the drone mid-air with no problem at all.

Other Details

It has two spinning propellers (back to back) for its flight and navigation. The Cleo has a very stealthy futuristic design. If one is not looking for it, the Cleo can easily blend with everyday objects around the home.

As for its battery, it can fly around for up to 15 minutes total before requiring a charge. That in itself is a great stat, as larger drones max out at 30 minutes. For 15 solid minutes of flying indoors, you are getting a great deal.

The Cleo also has a decent HD camera aboard its sleek design, which can give it additional uses. Surveillance for example is very possible. Combined with its small size and silent movement, it can have a variety of functions both serious and simple. The compact design can also make it possible for the drone to fit into smaller spaces in case one needs visual on the area.

  1. You did leave out the truly insane price they’re asking for this drone.
It retails for $9800?! Yes, 9 thousand and 800 dollars, US.
Can ANYONE justify the nearly $10,000 investment Cleo Robotics is asking for this drone?
