Automatic Windows update? I don’t think so!

We brought to you not too long ago a story about an interesting new addition to the Windows EULA via the Win2k SP3 and the soon to be released SP1 for WinXP that will allow M$ to update your OS automagically.  If this bothers you, there appears to be an easy way to disable this.  At least with Win2k’s SP3, if you haven’t already installed it, SP3 will install the Windows Automatic Updater, which will periodically check for updates.  If you want to turn it off, you can go to the control panel, double click on Automatic Updates, and you’ll get this.

Simply uncheck the “Keep my computer up to date” (like I already did), and you’re all set!
