“Imitation is the sincerest/greatest/best form of flattery” according to an old saying and Apple products have been imitated to death.  Their lawyers don’t think of it as flattery, but rather a pay check.  We’ll see how long it takes them to go after a Korean company called Destination Seoul for making the cute little mini Apple logo wooden speaker.

The mini speaker is hand crafted from apricot wood and measures 2.6” x 2” x 0.5” and only weighs half an ounce.  The wooden speaker is powered by a lithium-polymer batter with a five hour life; it can be recharged by plugging it into a USB port.

I’m not sure how good the quality of the sound would be due to the small size of the speaker but it probably is just as good as, if not better than the speakers on the iPod and iPhone.  Most of the buyers are going to get this as a novelty item rather than a Bose quality sound system.  The speaker not only looks cool but is also easy to carry and if it sounds decent then it is a must have for diehard Apple fans, unless they care about copyright and all that good stuff.

At Geek Extreme, we’ve posted about quite a few iPhone cases that give the iPhone a new look and some even give it extra functions.  We’ve seen covers that make the phones look like cameras (not covered on our site) but we’ve never seen anything like the iCamera Case by Hashy.

Not only does the iCamera Case makes the iPhone look exactly like a camera from the 90’s, it also makes the phone bulky and hard to carry in your pocket.  The back of the phone/case actually has a lens and a “film hump” that stick way out.  Of course they don’t add any functions to the phone.

At least the iCamera Case comes with a neck strap because it will be pretty hard to shove it into your pocket and that “film hump” thing acts like a stand for the phone.  So if you are after that retro look and don’t mind wearing the iPhone around your neck, then this is the case for you.  Personally I like to make things less complicated and this just doesn’t do it for me.

The iNecklace open-source wearable electronic pendant is the perfect gift for an Apple fan, not only does it look cool from a technology point of view, it also looks like a pretty nice piece of jewellery.  It would make a perfect gift for that geeky girlfriend that you don’t know what to get.

The pendent features the famous Apple “breathing” LED light pattern that can also be programmed to light up with different patterns because, as the name would suggest, it uses open-source code.  All the files, schematics, and the source code are available for free at GitHub.

The iNecklace pendant comes with an 18” sterling silver diamond-cut chain that has been specially treated to prevent tarnishing.  The pendant is made out of 6-series aluminum and comes with two CR1220 batteries (one for now the other for later) to power the pulsating LED light.

I’m not too big of a fan of Apple product (not that this is an Apple product but has its designed inspired by Apple) and even I like the iNecklace a lot.  This would have to be put in the perfect gifts for women list, especially if that woman has a geeky side to her.

We’ve shown you quite a few iPhone cases over the last few weeks, so far all of these cases have had two purposes: to protect your phone and make it look different from everyone else’s’ phones.  The Opena iPhone case now adds a third function to the case; it comes with actual bottle opener.
