Thank goodness there's at least one company out there with a head on its shoulders when thinking about the future of the DVD formats. Broadcom's BCM7411D chip can play back content encoded in both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray. Excellent.

"Video recorded using one standard will not play on DVD players built using the other standard, which promises to frustrate consumers looking to play DVDs from one movie studio on both their PCs and living-room DVD players.
