Gaming news for your multiple days off this holiday season's always a good thing, & there seems to be plenty of it this morning. Two of the bits of news this morning are from Valve. They've released a Day of Defeat: Source update that includes a list of over thirty fixes and changes. If you're playing DoD:S, you'll see it next time you start your steam client. The second news item from Valve this morning is pretty big stuff: they've developed a 64-bit version of the Source game engine. Yep, that's right, Valve is making a foray into the 64-bit arena. Games running on a 64-bit chip & OS will see some pretty decent performance increases, I'd imagine... Fileshack is hosting the latest Call of Duty 2 patch. The patch brings the current version up to 1.01, & includes performance enhancements for gamers with multi-processor, dual-core or HT rigs. Last but not least, DICE is promising some new toys for you BF2 fans out there. There will be add-on packs available for the game that will include new vehicles, new weapons, and new maps. I'm sure that if you're in a BF2 league, these packs will eventually be required for play, which isn't too terribly bad, because they're only going to be $9.99 each. |
