More DVD-DL price cuts on the way?

I dunno about a fast growing global demand... that is, unless they suddenly cut the prices of those bad-boys in half. The damn discs still cost ~$5 a pop, which is entirely too much loot to throw into a spindle of discs that are likely to be obsolete by this time next year... or earlier. The writing's definitely on the wall for DL technology with impending widespread availability of both Blu-ray & HD-DVD.

"Along with continued drops in prices of DVD+R/-R DL burners and discs, the global demand for DVD+R/-R discs will grow from an estimated 40-50 million discs for this year to 180-300 million in 2006, Chang indicated. Only Ritek, Mitsubishi Chemical, and Ricoh have obtained DVD+R DL certification from the DVD+RW Alliance, Chang noted."
