No OpenDocument for Office 12

Microsoft has officially denied the rumors going around that it would support the OpenDocument format in their upcoming Office 12 release. Instead, they're going to have third party developers come up with converters between their XML format & the OpenDocument format.

"We fully expect partners, independent companies, and competitors to provide converters between our Open XML formats and the OpenDocument formats, and are aware of a few projects along these lines already."
