Rootkit builders have taken a page from the antivirus vendors'
playbook. Rootkits like Golden Hacker Defender hunt for the tell-tale
signatures of antivirus programs to kill them. The winner is the
software with the most up-to-date signature files. Windows users should
be very, very worried...
F-Secure says Golden Hacker Defender's special because it detects
several commercial antivirus scanners. The creators of Golden Hacker
Defender aren't as impressed as F-Secure.
