Update bonanza time, & this time, it's not just Microsoft in on the madness. Oracle's released a "mega-patch" that fixes all kinds of security vulnerabilities (33, to be exact) in five of their products. Yikes. You can read exactly which products & fixes they've dealt with here, but I'd get myself a cup of coffee before sitting down to that one. There's also a serious Snort bug floating around, which could allow an attacker to take over a compromised Snort box. It's a buffer overflow in a Snort sensor designed to detect Back Orifice, an older remote-controlled Trojan horse. You can read the Secunia advisory here. Not to be left out, a "critical" flaw has been discovered that affects both Windows Media Player and Internet Explorer, including on Windows XP with Service Pack 2. This flaw, discovered by eEye, could allow for the remote execution of code simply by opening the wrong file, or even going to the wrong website. Sweet. |
