Whelp, imo, there goes the (gaming) neighborhood. NewsCorp, of Rupert Murdoch & Fox News fame, is going to put another gaming site into its pocket. Apparently owning GameSpot wasn't enough, so they're going to be buying IGN, which, as you all know, is its own gaming site, but also owns GameSpy.

Now, I know that GameSpy isn't very popular these days, to say the least, so it'll be interesting to see how this all turns out, especially with the potential affect on massive online gaming networks such as the extremely popular Battlefield 2. Not to mention any objectivity in any forthcoming reviews from any of those sites... heh. Anybody out there comfortable with ol' Rupert gleaning some marketing info off of your gaming &/or surfing habits?
