Hexus is bringing us some good stuff from IDF this morning; all having to to with ATi, no less. The first bit of info from San Fran is that ATi's multi graphics platform, CrossFire, was demonstrated on both the Xeon "Tumwater" & 955X chipsets at the conference. Hexus is postulating that ATi has aimed from the beginning to make CrossFire a more user-friendly solution than its competition, & if it's able to run on two different Intel chipsets, as well as ATi's own RD480, then I think that they're going to be proven correct. The second ATi tidbit from Hexus at IDF this morning has to do with yet another mid-range ATi product launch. The Hexus crew has learned that ATi plans to launch the X800 GTO, which will have the full twelve graphics pipes enabled, in both 128- & 256MB varieties. They're saying that this card will be in the same price range as the recently launched X800 GT, which has only eight rendering pipelines enabled. |
