The guys over at Yahoo! have been beta testing a new toy called Y!Q
and we decided we kinda liked it. As a matter of fact, we liked it so
much we coded up a little something for Mambo to let us use it in every
article on the site.
So,
what the heck is Y!Q? Well, yahoo describes it as "An entirely new way
to search - using context to add relevance" - we just think of it as a
pretty cool way to provide your users with a bit more information on
what they're reading about, packaged in a slick DHTML overlay.
So,
just about an hour after we started testing it on our site, the
questions started pouring in. Everyone wants to know more about it.
Quite frankly, I got sick of responding to the emails and just started
packaging our little test product into a Mambo Mambot and decided we
should give everyone running Mambo the ability to add this sweet widget
to their installation.
Ah, yes - the obligitory screenshot. But why stop
there - this entire site is a living, breathing, demo. Hop on over to
the front page and click around. Each article has the Y!Q bot
implemented.
