Page 7 of 8 FM Receiver: The radio functions about as well as a standard walkman radio. I tested it all over Chicago and it did seem to do the job quite well. In-building performance was just slightly sub-standard, but when you're on the 48th floor of a highrise this is pretty typical. MediaGear does allow you to configure up to 10 presets, but this operation was a little bit cumbersome. I found that 10 presets wasn't quite enough to cover all the stations I tune in and out of and I don't quite understand why they would limit it, but I suppose the average user won't find this to be much of an issue. Voice Recorder: The voice recorder works as well as any other I've used - but I'll honestly say this isn't a feature I've used much in the past. The one unique feature of the SongBank is it's ability to record directly from the FM tuner. The recording quality is quite good can be saved in standard MP3 format from 64 to 192kbps. Removable Storage Device: The songbank works in 2 modes: Media player mode and USB2 Removable Storage mode. Turn it on and plug it in and you're in standard media player mode. Turn it off and plug your PC will recognize it as a standard removable storage device. Battery: MediaGear claims that the battery life of about 12 hours. We were not able to get anything more than a solid 8 hours. The average was considerably less at around 6 hours of non-stop use. |
