Here's what you get in the box. Note that the mic is removable.

And a close-up of the AC97 box. The USB connection is used to power the unit. If you look, you can see how thin the wires are coming from each of the sound leads & the USB connector. What this means (imo) is that there's a lack of shielding on the wires. More on that in a second.
