According to The Inquirer, according to Bloomberg "...an IDC analyst [is] saying that Opteron servers in Q3 outsold Itaniums from Intel by over two times.
The numbers are 10,746 Opteron servers and 4,957 Itanium servers, according to IDC. For a chip that was only launched in spring, the figures are not bad for AMD, which has the support of tier one vendors like Sun and IBM now, but not HP (yet) or Dell (ever?)." Interesting statement considering the limited availability and high price tag... |
