One large difference between AMD and Intel processors has been the need for cooling. Intel processors, despite their higher clock speeds, have had less need for more efficient and more powerful cooling devices such as HSF's, peltiers and water blocks as the stock cooler included with the processor sufficed to keep the core temperature as low as needed. However, with Intel trying to hold onto their position at th top of the speed ladder, they have apparently acknowledged that heat dissapation has become a larger concern.

At a meeting in Taiwan last year, Intel introduced the plan to the makers of cooling devices which requires them to submit their designs to a third party service for validation.

There are a number of P4 coolers out there, but their numbers are far less than what you would find in the way of variety compared with Athlon coolers. The P4 cooler that I have is an aluminum block with a high-CFM 80mm Sanyo Denki fan on top, but it could quite obviously be improved with a copper core or some copper fins.
