Seems I'm not the only one who's had issues with Steam & the HL2/CS:S release. Scott over at ipKonfig shares his thoughts on the Steam application & its merits (or lack thereof).

"Steam is Valve's way of trying to control the copyright issues abroad, and with good reason. The internet has brought good and evil for publishing. Software is easily distributed across the internet and easily downloaded by those who know where to find it. So Valve's main concern was to protect its ‘new car' from thieves.
