Finally, Wireless Credit Cards
Written by Benjamin A. Hunter

The technology has been around for several years now; it's about time the credit card companies looked into it! Mastercard and American Express have been doing some research on wireless credit cards that will no longer be required to swipe in any machine. Simply place the card near a wireless reader and you're done. The cards would attach to the cardholder’s keychain, and would never need to be removed. Everywhere a user's keys go, so does the credit card. Take a look.

"American Express makes the RFID reader verify the card's authenticity with a "challenge-response" exchange that depends on 128-bit encryption encoded on the chip. That strength of encryption is considered safe against "brute force" attacks, in which a hacker tries every possible combination."

Unfortunately, the article says the technology will be not be widespread for several more years. Pity...
