Micron has announced two new parts for camera manufacturers: 2- & 3-megapixel CMOS image sensors. These sensors, for use in digital still cameras (DSCs), digital video cameras and converged DSC/camcorders, have already begun production & sales to major manufacturers.

"The 2-megapixel sensor is an upgrade from the 1.3-megapixel version, launched in March of this year, while the 3-megapixel sensor adopts a new design with new features, including on-chip global reset and binning, with integrated auto exposure, auto focus and viewfinder modes."
