Microsoft vs. Sony
Written by Andrew

Two big corporations could be butting heads, in an effort to become the center of home entertainment. Sony will be debuting their PSX which is aimed as becoming an all-in-one home entertainment unit with features such as DVD recording, media playback, and the same gaming ability as that of the original PS2. Microsoft is taking a different approach, upgrading their pre-existing XBOX console with newer software, such as Music Mixer which adds features such as karaoke and digital photo sile show abilities, making it more of a multimedia center and tying it into pre-existing computer networks. Microsoft may even use Longhorn technology to upgrade the software of the XBOX, tying it into home networks much like a regular computer.

"Microsoft views the PC as the center of the home, and Sony views the TV as the center"

-Schelley Olhava analyst, IDC
