Two big corporations could be butting heads, in an effort to become the center of home entertainment. Sony will be debuting their PSX which is aimed as becoming an all-in-one home entertainment unit with features such as DVD recording, media playback, and the same gaming ability as that of the original PS2. Microsoft is taking a different approach, upgrading their pre-existing XBOX console with newer software, such as Music Mixer which adds features such as karaoke and digital photo sile show abilities, making it more of a multimedia center and tying it into pre-existing computer networks. Microsoft may even use Longhorn technology to upgrade the software of the XBOX, tying it into home networks much like a regular computer. "Microsoft views the PC as the center of the home, and Sony views the TV as the center" -Schelley Olhava analyst, IDC |
