Yahoo Combats Spam
Written by Benjamin A. Hunter

Yahoo has developed a method of combating spam by creating an authentication key similar to Euclid encryption. This essentially means that the email address in the from line must agree with the person who sent the email. My major problem with this is that many websites send legitimate mail through mail servers from a variety of addresses and I do not see how this system would cope. Hopefully more details will be available soon.

"If the public key is able to decrypt the private key embedded in the message, then the e-mail is considered authentic and can be delivered. If not, then the message is assumed not to be an authentic one from the sender and is blocked."
