I'm a bit surprised to see that no one has bid yet on the "Rule GeekExtreme.com for a day" auction on eBay.  I want to help squash any ideas that might be out there as to WHY we're doing this.

We're not doing this to line our pockets.  We have an opportunity to expand the GeekExtreme network of web sites by aquiring a site (rather cheaply), and to possibly create a brand new site to go with it.  We also need to advertise, and as I'm sure some of you know, buying advertising isn't cheap.  Our banner ads isn't cutting it for us, so we needed to explore other possibility to bring in some revenue to help expand GeekExtreme.  All proceeds made from this and anything else we do through GeekExtreme will go back into GeekExtreme, whether it be to buy advertising, review products, web sites, domain names, etc..  By doing this it helps keep GeekExtreme pop-up ad free, and NOBODY likes pop-ups.

Besides, think about it, we're offering you the keys to the site for a day, to do what you want with it.  Post your own news, shamlessly plug your business/product/favorite charity/WHATEVER.  Depending on the success of this we might expand it to "Rule Geekextreme for 2 days!".  Who knows!
