HL2 & CS:S - beta at best?
Wednesday, 17 November 2004

I've got to say that I personally still am not able to play either HL2, or CS:S. Both games will load, then, anywhere from two to fifteen minutes later, completely crash my machine to the point where it requires a hard reboot to come back to life. It seems that the gang over at the [H] has experienced similar circumstances, with CS:S, at least, & they're not happy about it. Neither am I, but I certainly don't have the clout that those guys do, so maybe (hopefully) their editorial on the matter will finally get a response out of Valve. I know that my numerous forums postings & support requests certainly haven't solved the problem.... (Don't try to go to the Steam forums, btw, they've been down since yesterday... think anyone else is having problems?)

"Valve has placed the multiplayer success of Half Life 2 firmly on the shoulders of Counter Strike:Source and at this point it looks as though Counter Strike:Source is going to be a terrible “failure” for so many of us that once truly loved playing the game. I guess as long as tons of cash is made by Valve, they will see their toils as a success."
