Verizon to roll out 3G CDMA2000 EV-DO network
Thursday, 08 January 2004

Yikes, talk about your infrastructure upgrades. Verizon Wireless will be spending $1 billion (yes, with a 'b') to deploy the new wireless tech infrastructure over the next two years. The service will be available for $80 per month, & will get you rates anywhere from 300-500Kbits/s. Sweeeeeeeeeeeet... finally be able to use wireless internet products in just about any major metro area.

"Though no contracts or suppliers have yet been signed up for Verizon Wireless's rollout, Nelson said the company is so far pleased with work performed by both Nortel and Lucent in the limited commercial launch of EV-DO networks in the San Diego and Washington areas, respectively."

Only thing is.... what's that idiot with the cellphone in all the commercials gonna do now? "Did you get my email now?" Ugh, somebody please assassinate that loser.
