Shootin' down artillery shells with lasers

Gee I could one of these in a heated game of Tribes when my base is getting hammered by wimps, 'er, peeps who like to sit back and mortar the piss out of your base.  The US Army has devised a way of using high powered lasers to shoot down artillery shells in mid-air.  Now if they could figure out how to do that with large missiles..
