DDR3 to see near price parity with DDR2 this year

If Intel does subsidize PC vendors to make the transition to DDR3, the days of DDR2 are definitely numbered. I have two questions: 1. once Nehalem is out, will Intel really need to push so hard for the higher frequencies? & 2. what are AMD's DDR3 platform plans? We really haven't heard much on AM3, & if 2008 really is going to be "the year for DDR3," I'd have expected to hear a bit more on it by now...

"As DRAM makers are expect to speed up their pace over DDR3 production, the price premium between the two standards of memory is expected to shrink to 10% in the second half of the year, the DRAM makers commented."
