Examining the AMD errata issue at the TechReport

The guys at TR have posted a couple of articles over the last two days examining the errata issue with the current crop of AMD processors. Seems like the issue is affecting not just the higher-clocked desktop Phenom chips, but the lower frequency Opterons as well. So much for the theory that this errata was what was holdling back the Phenom speed ramp-up. They also took a look at exactly what the workaround did to performance levels on the current Phenoms, which bypasses the L3 cache. Predictably, performance suffered. Boy oh boy did AMD screw up this launch.
