If you're in the market for a budget system to pass off on Mom or Dad anytime soon, Ninjalane's got their recommendations on what would fit the bill. This article is the first installment in their "Upgrade Alley" system builders guide section of their site, with the enthusiast & workstation guides to follow. The budget system comes in at under $500, but doesn't include the all-important monitor, so it would definitely be more of an upgrade than a build guide. I've had good luck with these 19" widescreen LCDs, though, so toss in one of 'em & you're still coming in under $650....
