SATA to overtake optical drive interfaces this year?

Yeah, that last measly IDE connector on new motherboards is only there for one reason these days: optical drives. People have been wondering why the optical drive manfacturers haven't switched over to SATA interfaces for a while now. I guess this may be the definitive shift that we've been expecting....

"Many international OEM/ODM clients have requested for use of SATA in place of ATAPI for new DVD-ROM drive and/or DVD burner models sent for product certification over the past four months, the sources pointed out."
