| Mid-range DX10 graphics to drive Vista adoption in 2H '07? |

I'm not so sure about the underlying assumption of this bit over at DigiTimes that the "wide adoption of DirectX10" is imminent during the second half of this year. Sure, there are a handful of gme titles being developed, but the nVidia driver they cite as being "finally available" is still very much in beta (though rapidly progressing; thanks to public outcry). Not to mention that the adoption of DX10 means the widespread adoption of Vista, which is itself crawling along at best. Finally, there are a couple of offerings from a couple of game publishers (Valve & id? Maybe?) that are on the horizon that have nothing to do with DX10. I do agree, that having mid-range products available will help, but it certainly isn't going to start tipping any scales just yet. |
