Mass Linux adoption & the GPL: a reality check at MadPenguin

Matt at MadPenguin postulates that one big reason why we don't see major OEMs packaging their PCs with Linux as the installed OS is that the GPL simply isn't designed to address certain mass distribution issues. Two of these that he points out are proprietary drivers and EULAs.

"It's definitely wrong to break the rules for any reason, but at the same time, perhaps we need another alternative for Linux distributions that need a little more flexibility."
