When was the last time a major processor vendor tried to push a form factor? Oh yeah, BTX... see where that one went? Yeah. I dunno how successful this venture's going to be, but a unifying form factor does make some bit of sense...

"The new form factor, dubbed DTX, is AMD’s attempt to unify the various proprietary small form factors currently in use. DTX will be an open industry standard available to all case, motherboard and system manufacturers, but not be limited to AMD-based products."
