65nm "Brisbanes" & power consumption at the TechReport

Scott over at TR takes a look at the improvments in the power consumption of the new AMD 65nm "Brisbane" A64 X2 processors. In theory, the smaller die should make these new cores more efficient when it comes to power usage. The TR guys set out to find out if that's true, & if so, by exactly how much.

"Process shrinks often bring with them some nice benefits, because smaller chips tend to require less voltage, consume less power, and generate less heat. They also sometimes allow more headroom for clock frequency increases."
