AM3 delayed to 2008; AM2+ steps in

Ahh crap. Looks like We'll be half-way through 2008 before we see DDR3 in AMD systems. The good news, I guess, is that the quad-cores'll have HyperTransport 3.0 in a new socket iteration... Their reasoning:

"Socket AM3 CPUs can only be compatible with Socket AM2- and Socket AM3-based motherboards, but Socket AM3-based motherboards cannot support any previous-generation processors, including Socket AM2 CPUs, the makers noted."
