Call of Duty server security vulnerability
Written by t-readyroc

As long as we're at the gaming news today, let's touch on a security vulnerability in the CoD family of games. Lots of game servers out there (including mine) are doing many other things besides hosting game servers. If you're running a Call of Duty, Call of Duty: United Offensive, or Call of Duty 2 multiplayer server on such a box, you're definitely going to pay attention to this one. It seems that executing a suitably crafted callvotemap command in the console is enough to allow remote code execution. Unfortunately, there hasn't been an official patch issued yet, but the source for the advisory has crafted some un-official fixes.
